How should I store my TERBODORE coffee?
Keep your coffee in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. We recommend storing it in an airtight container to preserve its freshness, so you can enjoy the full flavour profile for as long as possible.
How long does coffee stay fresh after opening?
Coffee is best enjoyed fresh! Once opened, it’s good for about two weeks. We recommend using it within that time for the fullest flavour experience. After that, it might start to lose some of its punch, but we’re sure it’ll still be delicious!
What grind size should I use for my TERBODORE coffee?
We offer 4 different grinds (beans, home espresso, filter, French press) perfect for multiple coffee-making methods. For a Moka pot method, we suggest our French press grind and for an Aeropress, our filter grind.
How can I make my TERBODORE coffee taste stronger or lighter?
For a punchier kick, add a bit more coffee to your brew. For a lighter taste, try reducing the amount of coffee or increasing the water. Play around until you find your perfect balance... that’s the beauty of making your coffee your own!
What’s the ideal water-to-coffee ratio for the perfect cup?
For the perfect cup, we recommend a 1:15 ratio of coffee to water. That’s about 1 gram of coffee for every 15 grams of water. But, as always, feel free to tweak it depending on your personal taste.
What’s the difference between single-origin coffee and a blend?
Single-origin coffee comes from one specific region or farm, offering unique characteristics that reflect the terroir (the environment it was grown in). Blends, on the other hand, combine beans from different origins to create a balanced and consistent flavour profile. Both have their place, depending on what you’re craving!
What roast profile works best for espresso with TERBODORE coffee?
For espresso, we recommend a medium to dark roast, like our Great Dane or Mac Espresso. The caramelised sugars and deep, rich flavours shine through with a slight sweetness and a smooth finish. This profile gives you the bold, intense flavours you’re after in a perfect shot of espresso.
Does your coffee have added sugar?
We don't include sugar or sweeteners in our blends, but there is a small amount of sugar added to our flavoured coffees.
How did we get started?
It all began back in 2001 when Marian (TERBODORE Founder) and her family made the move from the Western Cape to the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. They took over a small restaurant, and to everyone’s surprise, the coffee quickly became the star of the show. In 2004, the family decided to roast their own beans, investing in a small 5kg roaster, and that’s when TERBODORE officially came to life.
Where does the name TERBODORE come from?
The name combines three family names: TER from Marian’s father, BO from her maiden surname, and DOR from her aunt.
Who is the dog in our logo?
Sultan, our first Great Dane, stole everyone’s heart at our original roastery and became the perfect symbol for TERBODORE with his gentle nature and big personality.
Where can I find TERBODORE coffee?
You can grab a bag from our online store, visit one of our cafés in either Franschhoek or the KZN Midlands, or find us in select retailers and coffee shops across South Africa. This includes Checkers and Pick 'n Pay. Find a comprehensive list of our stockists here.
